Spiritual Truth – Religion and Pregnancy

Don’t let “spirituality” scare you away.

Will you force religion on me?

The simple answer is NO.  Let me explain by answering a few of the questions you might be thinking.…

Who funds your organization?

As a non-profit medical center, we rely on the financial donations of those in our community that hold the same values as we do. We believe that every life is valuable and we are here to help women who are pregnant to carefully consider their decisions. Naturally that means we are funded by many local churches.

What church do you represent?
  • We don’t represent a single church. We hold to the following beliefs:
  • We believe that the Bible is true.
  • We believe that there is one God and in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • We believe there is salvation from our sinful nature found only through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Will you tell me to read the Bible?

It is not our philosophy to make you feel uncomfortable and to force any beliefs on you. That’s not who we are or what we are about. If religion or spirituality is something YOU want to talk about, sure we can discuss it. Yes, we have Bibles in our centers and yes it is something we believe can bring hope, but we are not going to force it upon you.  That’s just weird!

I don’t have spiritual beliefs and don’t want to talk about God.

No problem.  Often we will talk to our clients about how they were brought up and how religion influenced their lives. Some have had good experiences and others have not. If it’s something you want to talk about we are here to listen.  If you don’t want to talk about God or your beliefs, we are good with that too.

I heard you will coerces me into keeping my baby?

Not true, at all!  Our trained staff will talk with you about all your options.  Many times you will hear us say that parenting is hard and not the easiest option.  Many of our consultants have had abortions and experienced unplanned pregnancies, so they know exactly what you might be feeling. One of our objectives is that you understand your options and think about the long-term effects of each. It is important that you consider how you may feel if you choose abortion as many women deal with side effects that are not often discussed. We realize that you might not have anyone to talk to about your pregnancy and we are here to listen and dialogue with you as you process.  It’s not an easy decision, but we will never coerces you into any decision.  It’s your choice.  We care about you and want you to be fully informed.

Why do you want to pray for me?

Yes, it is possible that your consultant will ask if they can pray for you. If you feel uncomfortable with this or don’t want to be prayed for, then politely decline. No worries.  Because we are established on spiritual principles we believe in the power of prayer. We know many of our clients are facing difficult circumstances and hard decisions so we want to pray for your health and for wisdom as you make your decisions.

Don’t let “spirituality” scare you away. Most of our clients would describe us as a place that cares, gives hope, listens, understands and is there to help them.  We are a medical clinic that is concerned about you, and allowing you to make the best decision for your future.
