Brooke – Multiple Abortions

This is different than I expected.

I don’t know if I want to be pregnant and have a child.

“Brooke” (not her real name) came into our center with her friend. She was certain she was pregnant since she had taken multiple pregnancy tests. Brooke brought her friend for moral support. She was scared and afraid.  It was nice to know that she didn’t want to be alone.

Brooke indicated she didn’t know if she wanted to be a parent and have a child.  She already had multiple abortions, and was emotionally scarred and didn’t know if she could go through it again. We talked to her about our Hearts of Hope class and encouraged her to attend to help her process through her emotions and obtain healing. Brooke also wasn’t sure about telling family members or her ex-boyfriend who is the father of the baby, due to the uncertainty of how they would react.

After a lengthy conversation working through the many emotions and circumstances in Brookes’ life, she smiled for the first time. She walked out of our office with material to read that would give her the words and the tools to begin having conversations with her parents and her ex-boyfriend. Her friend listened as well and was supportive.  Before they left her friend said, “Wow, this is a lot different than I expected.  You guys really care.”

We were able to follow-up the next day and asked if she needed anything else.  She informed us she already told her dad and her ex-boyfriend. Both of their responses were much more positive than Brooke anticipated and she was happy with the support she was already receiving from family and friends.

The Pregnancy Resource Center is here for you.  If you need someone to talk with, if you need wisdom on how to tell your parents or boyfriend that you are pregnant, we can help.
